Cape Fear Fair and Expo
November 1 - 10, 2013
This year's fair promises to be bigger and better than EVER! The award winning Powers Great American Midways will be back again, bringing their spectacular rides straight from the State Fair. Enjoy thrilling rides, fun filled games and delicious food at the 2013 Cape Fear Fair! Flat Bottom Girls Flounder Tournament
November 2, 2013
Fish For Tomorrow presents the Flat Bottom Girls Flounder Tournament this November 2013. Proceeds will benefit flounder aquaculture research at NC Wilmington and NC State University. The tournament kicks off at daylight and the weigh-in will take place at 5PM. Fish must be weighed in alive and in good condition. Contact Tim Barefoot at 910-617-7637 for more information!

16th Annual Polish Festival
November 2, 2013 from 11AM to 5PM
Enjoy food, drinks, and lots of entertainment at the 2013 Polish Festival in Wilmington, NC! Karolinka, a children's Polish Folk Group of Charlotte NC, and The Chardon Polka Band from Ohio will be there to delight and entertain throughout the day. Guests are invited to try delicious Polish foods including Kielbasa, Pierogi, Golabki, Placki Ziemiaczane, Kruschiki, Strudel and more! There will also be domestic and Polish beer served, including Wilmington's own St. Stan's Baltic Porter, brewed especially for the Polish Festival by Front Street Brewery! Cape Fear Kite Festival
November 2 & 3, 2013
Cape Fear Kite Festival was organized as a "fun fly" without competitions or rules (other than safety!) to unofficially wrap up the kite-flying year. It is attended by serious kite flyers who enjoy showing their sky art to anyone who appreciates it. While weather and wind dependent, SOMETHING will fly, we assure you! Hundreds of spectators of all ages and all walks of life cover the beach and many (we hope) will get hooked on the fun and beauty of a kite string in your hand and color against the clouds. Battleship Half Marathon and Port Land Grille Battleship 5k

The 15th annual Carolina Sports Medicine Battleship North Carolina Half Marathon and Port Land Grille Battleship 5K is the best undiscovered Destination Race you'll ever do! The race includes a beautiful, USATF-certified (NC13063DF) Half Marathon and precisely measured 5K that starts and finishes at the Battleship North Carolina across the river from downtown Wilmington, NC. It's only 9 miles to Wrightsville Beach which is one of the most picturesque beaches on the east coast. The Half Marathon course crosses 2 bridges, goes through historic downtown Wilmington, and tours beautiful Greenfield Lake with the 12-mile mark at the top of the Memorial Bridge which is the highest point on the course. The post-race party and awards ceremony in Battleship Park overlooks the Cape Fear River and downtown Wilmington with exhibits, vendors, pizza and good chow and drinks. Register today!

Diamonds & Champagne Hope Ball

Women of Hope is pleased to announce the Inaugural Diamonds & Champagne Hope Ball. A Charity Gala Event to be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington, NC. This formal black tie affair will benefit Women of Hope, which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the female cancer patient, survivor and their families. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Craig Woolard Band. A dinner buffet served by the MOI Catering Co. along with a variety of complimentary beverages to include beer and wine. A cash bar for mixed drinks will be available. Decadent desserts will be created by Eat Dessert First. It is sure to be a wonderful evening for all who attend. 15th Annual Festival Latino
November 9, 2013
The 2013 Festival Latino will take place at Ogden Park in Wilmington, North Carolina. This is the largest Latino event in the Capfe Fear Area with over 20,000 people in attendance! Fall Horse Drawn Wagon Tours of Oakdale Cemetery
November 10, 2013 from 2:30PM - 4:30PM
Enjoy a 30 minute, narrated tour of Oakdale - North Carolina's oldest rural cemetery. Nip and Tuck, a pair of Percheron horses who pull the wagon, will allow Ed Lewis of Currie Work and Driving Horse Farm to provide directions. See the graves of Wilmington's famous and interesting personalities. Narrated tours are offered every 30 minutes beginning at 2:30 PM. The last tour will depart at 4:30 PM. Cucalorus Film Festival
November 13 - 17, 2013
Cucalorus brings people together to celebrate, discover and create independent films. The annual festival provides a non-competitive environment to honor and support filmmakers. The world's biggest celebration of independent and international film held in North Carolina! Films will be played at popular Wilmington venues including City Stage Theater, TheatreNOW, Jengo's Playhouse, Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts, Bellamy Mansion and Ziggy's By the Sea during the Cucalorus Film Festival.

North Carolina Surf to Sound Challenge
November 16, 2013
The Surf to Sound Challenge in Wilmington, NC features extreme paddlers who will perform a surf start, race through the Atlantic Ocean and finish on Wrightsville Beach. Jake Shimabukuro - Hawaiian Ukulele Wizard

JAKE SHIMABUKURO is a ukulele virtuoso and composer known for his fast and complex finger work. His music combines elements of jazz, blues, funk, rock, bluegrass, classical, folk, and flamenco. Shimabukuro has written numerous original compositions, including the entire soundtracks to two Japanese films, Hula Girls (2007) and the Japanese remake of Sideways (2009). Well known in Hawaii and Japan during his early solo career in the early 2000s, Shimabukuro became famous internationally in 2006, when a video of him playing a virtuosic rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was posted on YouTube without his knowledge and became one of the first viral videos on that site.
