The Safari Hunt is like an underwater Easter egg hunt on a shipwreck! At 9:00AM, Aquatic Safaris will blow a horn at the Liberty Ship off Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Once they hear the sound of the horn, divers will hit the water in search of numbered tokens that are hidden on the 400' wreck. Divers are each allowed to bring 3 tokens back to the surface with them.
After the dive, everyone will head back to the Bridge Tender Marina where free hot-dogs, chips, and drinks are served. Each participant can look forward to a Safari Hunt T-Shirt as well! Then, Aquatic Safaris will begin to call out numbers. When a diver's token number is called, he or she can draw a prize from the hat. Once all of the token numbers have been called, people who did not get a token put their names in a hat to draw the remaining prizes.On average, 80 - 100 people sign up for Safari Hunt. There are approximately 120 tokens hidden in the water and over $4,000 in prizes will be given away. Prizes usually include a Regulator, BC, Dive Computer, Riffe and AB Biller Spear guns, and lots more. Aquatic Safaris receives prizes from generous vendors in the Wilmington area, so come out this year to win some prizes! Space on the Aquatic Safaris charter boats are limited, so sign up today to reserve your spot. There will also be a variety of private boats participating, so tell Aquatic Safaris if you need a ride and they may be able to connect you with a boat!
Aquatic Safaris has been running charters out of Wrightsville Beach for over 20 years. Captains and crew members are experienced divers or instructors that will do everything possible to make sure you have a safe and fun experience.
