The Addams Family at Thalian Hall

And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Haunted Pub Crawl
October 1-3, 7-10, 14-17, 21-24 & 28-31, 2015
It's Pub Hopping With A Purpose! Hoist a pint or three & celebrate Wilmington's dark history on a 2.5 hour adventure to the city's coolest, most intriguing, "best-hidden" local pubs. Hear true ghostly & non-ghostly tales of murder, mayhem, love, lunacy, humor, debauchery & more. All guests must be 21 or older, have a valid photo id and sign our Liability Waiver & Release Form before the start of the tour. Tours leave at 7:15 PM & journey to at least four pubs. Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington

Join us as we traverse 275-year old alleyways littered with the spiritual debris of privateers and cutthroats. Stroll beneath a canopy of centuries old live oaks, their cryptic limbs dripping with Spanish moss, and hear tales of murder and mayhem. And if you dare, tread upon the unmarked graves of thieves, murderers and other less pitiful souls. Come hear the dismal accounts behind our most unfortunate wretches and discover the poor lost souls that still linger in the Port City. Hear tales past and present, including the most recent encounters with these spirits (many of which have occurred during past tours). With 30 active sites the tour varies nightly. Murder Mystery Dinner Cruise

Poplar Grove’s Paranormal Ghost Tour

For 4 Fridays in October, the Manor House will be open for paranormal ghost tours and in the tradition of all those porch ceilings of the South painted haint blue - to ward off those very restless souls. Spirits and haunts, or haints, of all ages from 1850-1950, continue to hover around the Manor House, particularly in the dining room, upstairs hallway and children's room. There are lots of true stories of Foy family household haints to share, including a murderous crime of passion. Come discover who these phantoms are and why they're still here. We will share a little history with you, provide a scroll of the dead and permit you to focus on a particular room or rooms for paranormal activity. Halloween Ghost Trolley & Haunted Barn

Listen to ghost stories tailored for young children and experience the "Haunted Barn"! Let your little ones enjoy Halloween the way it used to be. Tours run October 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31, 2015 from 6PM - 9PM. Meet at Market & Water Streets in downtown Wilmington. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 per child under 12. Free treats for children. Howl-O-Ween and Zombie Run
October 24, 2015
It's almost HOWL-O-WEEN! Join us for food, fun, and the Zombie Run at Hugh MacRae Park, Shelter #5--it's a paws4people "howl-o-ween" event to remember! Bring the whole family for an evening of trick-or-treating, puppy pictures, games, and more, all leading up to our annual Zombie Run! Race to the finish--and for your life!--on a one-mile course while dodging spooky Zombies. Runners will be allowed to run the 1 mile trail around Hugh MacRae Park at the speed of their choice. The course will be infested with ZOMBIES! The Zombies will be hidden along the course behind trees and bushes, popping out as the runners take the course. Zombies will attempt to retrieve flags worn by the runners. To be eligible for prizes, runners must “survive the course” with their flag intact. Come in costume if you dare! Attend as a princely fiend or fiendish Queen. We have the backdrop of the 19th century, so Steampunk it, or simply come as yourself. Let the spirits be your guide. This is a 21+ event featuring music by the Phantom Playboys from 7-9PM. Enjoy Wicked Apple Martinis, oyster bar, cigar bar, parade and costume contest, black and white horror films, a double piazza DJ from Cape Fear Entertainment and other surprises too early to mention. Batty Battleship’s Halloween Bash

Batty Battleship, brother Buggy and their friends return to the Battleship for a spooktacular trick or treating time. A lot of fun and no scares it is the best location for the family to share. But don’t be frightened and don’t you fret we promise we’ll provide a zoo with animals to pet. With candy and sweets there’s plenty of treats you’ll be asking yourself what more should I eat. Come have fun aboard the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA for the 6th annual Batty Battleship's Halloween Bash. Carnival festivities and a bounce house included trick-or-treaters of all ages will be begging not to leave. Admission is $5 per person. Kids 2 and under free. Some activities are weather dependent. Trick or Treat Under the Sea

Bring the kids to the aquarium for early Halloween trick-or-treating! Candy stations, special programs and decorations provide a fun and safe Halloween building for this event. This popular event is held on three dates from 4:30-8PM each night. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Admission is $11.00 for children and adults. Spooky Sound Paddle-Fest
October 31, 2015
The Wilmington Symphony’s Spooky Sound Paddle-Fest 2015 is a family-oriented event to raise awareness of and benefit the Wilmington Symphony’s youth education programs including the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra, Junior Strings, Richard R. Deas Student Concerto Competition and Free Family Concert. The event includes standup paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, and any other non-motorized craft. The course is approximately 1 mile, starting and ending at Wrightsville SUP at 96 W. Salisbury Street with a mid-point turnaround at Palm Tree Island. Entry is $15 per person. Since it is Halloween, we will be awarding prizes for best costumes (3 prizes) and strangest craft! There will also be drawings for several cool raffle prizes. Click here for additional information.

Wilmington Horror Story at TheatreNOW

TheatreNOW's Wilmington Horror Story features three tales of terror by three very talented local scribes served with a devilishly delicious three-course horror themed meal. “Dine and Dash,” by Anghus Houvouras tells the story of a blind date that turns deadly. Tale number 2 is “Dr. Herbert West: Re-Animator” adapted by Chase Harrison from H.P.Lovecraft classic reanimation tale. And finally, “A Letter To Dave from the Zombie Apocalypse of Hurricane Irene” by Calie Voorhis. Shows will be Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets are $34 per adult and $20 for the show only. Poplar Grove Halloween Festival
October 17-19 and 24-26, 2014
Dare to walk through the Haunted Manor, ride the Haunted Wagon through the deep dark forest, or for the little ones enjoy the Goblins and Games Fun House in the barn. Bring the entire family for food, fun, live music, inflatables, fortune-teller readings, petting zoo, and other favorites.  This year we are featuring Massive Grass and the Possum Creek Bluegrass Band. This is Poplar Grove’s largest fund-raiser of the year. For younger children or families with toddlers, there is a daytime Wagon Ride through the Nature Trail on Saturdays and Sundays starting at Noon and ending at 5:30PM. 5K Zombie Fun Run / Walk

Think you can survive a Zombie Apocalypse?  On Saturday, October 18th, test your skills at Poplar Grove Plantation’s 5K Zombie Fun Run/Walk through the Abbey Nature Preserve trails. The run will begin at 6PM in the parking lot near the Poplar Grove Cultural Arts Barn.  The course covers the scenic views around the Mill Pond and Pine Thicket trails, and will be crawling with Zombies clambering to take your 3 health flags.  Runners who make it to the finish line with at least 1 flag are awarded tickets to our Halloween Festival.  Awards for the top 3 finishers in each category and Overall Male and Female. Participants who do not want to be chased will not be issued health flags. Click here for additional information.

The Rocky Horror Show at Thalian Hall

The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics and a book by Richard O'Brien. A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940s through early 1970s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror.
